People’s Party Consults the People

With the Port Authority of Thailand planning to develop the Klong Toey port land for commercial purposes by moving the resident people out, the Member of Parliament from the opposition People’s Party (Klong Toey -Wattana Districts), Mr. Phanthin Nuamjerm, organized a forum on “Housing on the Land of the Bangkok Port” on 19 January. Participants included Khru Prateep, a representative of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council, community leaders and community people, who were given an opportunity to present their opinions and concerns. The forum also asked for clarification from the government on changing the zoning of land use from ‘Logistics and Transportation’ to ‘Entertainment Complex’. This change will have an severe impact on the community families and their housing needs.
