June 29 was Family Relationship Day at the New Life Project Kanchanaburi (NLPK). Currently, 43 children are living there, and various family members and guardians made the trip to the center for the event. Activities in the morning began with a religious blessing and offering food to monks. Participants also gave a belated Happy Birthday to NLPK co-founder, Khru Mingporn. The afternoon started with a “Paying Respect” ceremony to Khru Prateep, Khru Mingporn, Dr. Tatsuya Hata and the teachers who are helping the children recover to lead a normal life. As always, the tears flowed freely. Children who have studied well, or helped during activities at the centre were rewarded. Later, the children and their family members joined together for a tour of the project’s grounds and enjoyed some recreation together after dinner. Later, a discussion group on understanding and solving the children’s problems was organized. It was a very beneficial time for family bonding.
