Having finished their 12-day stay at our Kanchanaburi New Life Project (NLPK), the 12 young police cadets spent their last day with us at the Duang Prateep Foundation (DPF) in Bangkok. Khru Prateep, Khun Penwadee (manager) and Khun Payao (program coordinator) briefed them on the foundation’s work, and offered insights into the situation in Klong Toey. This program is an annual collaboration between the Royal Police Cadet Academy and the Duang Prateep Foundation. The cadets also shared what they had learned during their time at NLPK and offered thoughtful recommendations for the future. Following this, they were taken to visit a crowded community to observe the people’s daily life, and dropped in to the DPF Kindergarten to see the children’s activities. The DPF hopes that this learning experience will help build a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by underprivileged children, and serve as a foundation for developing solutions to broader social issues.
