Khru Mingporn, elder sister of Khru Prateep, celebrated her 80th birthday at the DPF centre recently. Khru Mingporn is a central figure in the history of the Duang Prateep Foundation, being a co-founder with Prateep of the famous ‘One-Baht-a-Day’ school to bring education to unschooled slum children. She also founded the New Life rehabilitation projects in Kanchanaburi and Chumporn for abused and drug-dependent children, respectively. There to show their love and gratitude to Khru Mingporn at the celebration were New Life Project alumni, current residents and staff, as well as family and friends. At 80 years old, Khru Mingporn still inspires us all to believe that a “Seed of Kindness” will always grow in a heart that dares to plant it. (Note: the “81” on the stage backdrop is a Thai tradition to symbolize an ongoing, longer life)
